Fractions

We got ourselves into 4 groups and were given one piece of bread. We were asked to cut it in half. Lots of us didn't know what that was but... Actually we all managed to cut the bread into 2 pieces!
Then..... We were given another piece of bread. This time we were asked to cut it into quarters. No one knew what that meant! But every group cut their bread into 4 pieces! Ka pai Room 1!

Giving feedback to our peers

What an amazing writing session! We explored various materials to find our story then conferenced with Mrs Wilson. We then explored some more then asked our peers for feedback and to then highlighter mark our work instead of Mrs Wilson! Keep watching this space

Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Mrs Wixon put the multilink cubes out for Numeracy on Monday. This station was supposed to be about making bonds to 10. What happened next was this.... The children began to make a longline with the blocks. Mitchell started to count them. He said there was 'a hundred-ten-eleven.Next the children moved the line onto the floor so they could add more and more and make it the whole length of the class!
They said it was the longest thing they had ever seen!
When I look at these photos I can't help but smile. The children are all so engaged and absolutely working together to find the correct cubes and join them on the end to make it even longer. After these photos were taken, the kids decided to make it even longer by curving the end and go back around. Wow Room 1 you blow me away!
